#KillBills now a Bengaluru Campaign

#KillBills is now a citywide event, BBMP & B.PAC on 2nd July took the HaSiRu Mithra initiative across the city with over 30 Wards participating from all 8 BBMP Zones. BCLIP, Civic Hubs, RWAs, NGOs & Citizen groups took on the fight against 'Visual Pollution' to the streets.

Every Ward had a local Team and had identified a distance of 1-2 Kms where they would be removing the Posters, Bills, Banners, Flex etc that were either stick, tied or simply dangled. HaSiRu Mithra has already completed the 27th Main stretch and 17th Cross from NIFT to Nandini cool joint junction, so the choice was obvious and it was decided that the stretch from Nandini cool joint junction to BDA Complex will be taken up.

With volunteers from Govt Degree College the HaSiRu Mithra Team and the BBMP PKs and Staff lead by Mr Vinayak the fight against 'Visual Pollution' started at 7.30am. Everyone seemed more than happy to bring down the ugly Banners, Flex and were seen ripping off the Posters & Bills stuck of Trees, Electric Poles. by 10.00am the #KillBills team reached and cleared most of the 'Visual Pollution' around BDA Complex and the tractor was a full load of ugliness. There is hope that BBMP will file cases against these illegal and ugly Posters, Bills, Banners, Flex that are defacing the locality and city.

HaSiRu Mithra will be submitting a report on list of offenders BPAC which will be then sent to BBMP for action. With more citizen participation and vigil it will not be difficult to put an end to the 'Visual Pollution' in Bengaluru.

#KillBills 7th & 8th May 2016

HaSiRu Mithra has been bringing in much needed focus on Garbage, Segregation, Black-spot, Plastic Ban, Lakes, Illegal Bills/Posters/Banners/Stickers, Tree Plantation for the last 5 months in HSR Layout-SSPalya.

These issues are extremely interconnected and all have to be addressed to ensure we have a Cleaner, Greener and Garbage Free locality. The Team has been working relentlessly for the last 5 months ever since the group was formed on 03rd of Dec 2015.

With over 17 Waste Segregation & Composting Workshops, 13 Black-spot fixing and Clean-up drives, 05 Talk sessions at Govt Colleges & Garment Factories, 19 Door-2-Door Campaigns for Waste Segregation & Plastic Ban, 02 Awareness drives at the Temples, , 09 #KillBills events (a drive against Posters/Bills/Flex/Banners etc) and Installation of 05 Information boards on Waste Segregation in different Parks HaSiRu Mithra has been leading the Campaign for a Cleaner, Greener and Garbage Free locality.

BBMP, Administration, RWAs & Citizens have been very supportive, BUT BBMP has to do a lot more to ensure that the ground level momentum built by HaSiRu Mithra is not a wasted effort.

Citizen participation and Activism is indeed the most difficult aspect in many Wards, but when Citizen groups like HaSiRu Mithra are coming out and lending their Time, Effort, Voice, Support the Administration should make use of it and implement the ideas and a develop a good working model at the earliest.

#KillBills City wide event 24th April 2016

HaSiRu Mithra Team initiate and lead #KillBills Campaign in association with 10 BPAC-Civic Hub Teams, I Change Indiranagar Team & Bellandur Team across 13 locations in the city and was fully supported by BBMP Team lead by JC Mr Khan.

#KillBills is a Citizen Campaign against illegal Posters, Banners, Stickers, Bills, Boards, Flex etc which are making the City of Bengaluru ugly and creating ‘Visual Pollution’.

21 Citizens & HaSiRu Mithra and 4 BBMP PKs with all the Tools and a Tractor started the drive at 6.45 am at Agara Flyover on 27th Main and covered a distance of 2.1 Kms till Nandini Cool Join junction.

Team scrapped out the Posters/Stickers/Bills belonging to PGs, Broadband, Cable etc companies from Trees & Electric Poles. The team also removed all the Boards, Flex & Banners put out by Commercial entities, Political parties and other Organizations.

Pictures of all the illegal Posters/Stickers/Bills/Banners/Flex/Boards were taken by the team, which will then be sent to BBMP office to file FIRs and take action.

The Posters/Stickers/Bills/Banners/Flex/Boards mess should end, these are not only creating Visual Pollution’ but are also adding to the garbage mess. Material used for Flex are not recyclable hence it ends in landfills. BBMP is also losing revenues as none of these Posters/Stickers/Bills/Banners/Flex/Boards have paid the fee to BBMP and BBMP in-turn incurs cost to remove and dispose them.

HaSiRu Mithra had created a Google map with details of each location, start point, lead and the contact number so that people could join the closest location in the City.

Communication via Facebook, Twitter, Google Map, WhatsApp & SMS helped the Campaign to reach out to more people.

#KillBills will be a regular event and more locations have expressed interest inspired by the success of the 24th April 2016 event.

More Power to HaSiRu Mithra & #KillBills Team.
